Don't Type Links to Frequently Visited Sites

Instead of typing out links to frequently visited sites, especially those for your bank or brokerage, you should bookmark them instead. There's a type of scam known as typosquatting, where criminals buy the domains that are typos of common sites for malicious purposes, such as trying to collect your login credentials and delivering malware to your computer via the browser. There's even some typosquatting with the domain extension .cm - which is intended for websites from Cameroon - to catch those who mistype sites intended for .com.

Instead of typing out URLs for commonly visited sites, you should bookmark them instead. Both Chrome and Firefox will bring up bookmarked sites as you start typing in the url in the url bar (I start typing them, but I never finish typing the url and instead select the site that comes up in the menu). For example:
